On Wednesday 18th Feb at 11am Cartrain will collect his compensation cheque from the L-13 Light Industrial Workshop in Clerkenwell. After that we will draw this project to a close to make way for new and better ideas.
All additional profits from this appeal will go into the Red Rag to a Bull Foundation Fund to provide help, support and deviant advice to those in similar situations.
Thanks to all of you who have shown support and made this all possible.
We would like to point out however, that although this appeal was focused on the Hirst vs Cartrain episode, it was intended to be a creative excerise that mocked and exposed the idiocy an overbearing and thoughtless approach to copyright control that creates fear and censorship in the arts. It was and is not a critical crusade against Damien Hirst as an artist or the nature and degree of his success. Thanks to all of you who sent in artworks with more fevered opinions about this, but for the sake of clarity we will save them for another occasion.

"Perceived copyright infringement in the art world is not new. Many artists have been sued for alleged appropriation of ideas and images. These cases or threats, however, have tended to be brought by large corporations. What is unusual about this case is that the threat of legal action is coming from an artist."

It has come to our attention that some artist named Damien Hirst has allegedly been picking on one of our treasured Street Urchins who used a bit of art in one of his collages.
Thanks to Red Rag To A Bull and a small group of highly trained artists you can now save this Street Urchin from certain death and help him get back the 200 quid that this Hirst allegedly nicked off him.
For the full horrific story click here All of the works below are for sale and once TWENTY MILLION POUNDS has been raised ALL the proceeds will go to make an exact copy of a sculpture known as "For the Love of God". This will then be sold for FIFTY MILLION POUNDS and the THIRTY MILLION POUND profit will then be used to repay the Street Urchin his 200 quid, help other Street Urchins and also feed starving children in Africa and Sussex.

Artists have always digested, parodied, studied, copied and created homage's It's a natural and vital part of art.
We absorb and consume our environment and spit it out again filtered by our own Lives. Born anew from the mix of bile and excreta of the digested to grow into Another creation. All creation post the big bang is theft. It's the best we can do. Some of us just more skilled in hiding it than others. Sometimes the whole point is that We don't hide it at all. That it becomes a comment on its predecessors.

For The Love Of God Is Not Boring Original Collage (330cm x 305cm) In February 2009, it was declared by some really important people in the know, that the shockingly unoriginal work by the much disliked 'artist' Damien Hirst, titled 'For The Love Of God', is no longer considered boring. This is, in no small part, due to a recent series of collages released by previously known and unknown real artists depicting Hirst's 'masterpiece' in new, unusual and increasingly contemplative contexts. To commemorate the declaration, SMITH33 has produced this collage, which will be auctioned on the first anniversary of Hirst's death at a location to be kept secret until at least one year before Hirst's death. Proceeds from the auction will be split equally into 33 amounts and given to street urchins on a first come first serve basis, subject to proof of identity and a great many other terms and conditions. A limited edition signed lunchbox will also be available through mail-order only. These will be limited to just 3 with one Artists Proof. All proceeds from the lunchbox sales will be donated to starving businessmen in the Greater London area.

Here is something I did do, it did take me ten minutes of my precious time but then anytime given to benefit those poor little street urchins is time well spent, perhaps Mr Hirst can donate some cash to the kitty in return for my time given my rates are £111.11 for whatever time period I deem appropriate. I personally wish for no recompense except a chance to laugh at the mr Dim Hirsty |
